Dissemination grants are provided for under the Charter Schools Program (CSP). The CSP was originally authorized in 1994 under Title X, Part C of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965. State Education Agencies may use CSP funds to award subgrants to charter schools in the State. Dissemination grants are awarded to charter schools to support activities that help open new public schools or share the lessons learned by charter schools with other public schools. The following activities may qualify as dissemination activities:
A charter school may apply for a dissemination grant if the charter school has been in operation for a least three consecutive years and has demonstrated overall success, including substantial progress in improving student achievement, high levels of parent satisfaction, and the management and leadership necessary to overcome initial start-up problems and establish a thriving, financially viable charter school. The Michigan Department of Education, Office of School Improvement administers the dissemination grant program for Michigan charter schools. This site is sponsored by the Michigan Association of Public School Academies (MAPSA) with financial support from the Michigan Department of Education.
